DHARAMSHALA: The first ever meeting of the newly established Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society (ITFS) in Aurangabad passed a resolution seeking a 'Legislative Forum for Tibet in the Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly'.Over 400 people, including the mayor of Aurangabad city, three members of state assembly and a standing committee member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, attended the meeting in Aurangabad on 2 January.
The meeting also passed a resolution to “organise various activities to highlight the issue of Tibet”.

The meeting discussed various issues concerning “Tibet in general and the environmental situation in particular".

Mrs Ngawang Lhamo, member of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, informed the meeting on the political situation in Tibet, the deteriorating situation of Tibet's environment and its impact on the neighbouring countries including India.

Mrs Lhamo spoke on the current status of the dialogue process between the envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the PRC leadership. She appealed for the support of the people and both the state and central government of India for the realisation of a constructive dialogue process.
