Shimla--One more feather was added in the development of the tourism in the State when Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister flagged off much awaited Heli-Taxi service from Annandale Helipad to Kullu carrying tourists on joy ride to the world famous Kullu Valley. This would go a long way in facilitating the tourists to visit the famous tourists places in hills as well as new places of tourist importance in far flung areas of the State.

Chief Minister on the occasion said that with the introduction of Heli-Taxi service, scope of tourism had been widened as high end tourists would now be able to visit Himachal Pradesh in a short time. He said that with the launching of the service tourists could be picked up from Chandigarh or any other destination. He said that exhaustive exercise had been undertaken by the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation before the launch of the service so as to operate heli taxi service. He said that initially Simm Samm Airways had launched the service from Shimla helipad.

Chief Minister said that 1.39 crore tourists had visited the State during last year including a large number of foreigners. He said that there was vast scope of high end tourism in the State and the heli-taxi service would go a long way in supplementing government efforts in this respect. He said that para-gliding, hang-gliding, heli-skiing and other adventure international level sports activities were being organized in the State and the heli-taxi service would facilitate organization of such sports more conveniently. He said that the new service was a vital leap forward to attract high end tourists visit different destinations in Himachal Pradesh. He congratulated the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation for adding another vital milestone in quality tourism infrastructure creation thereby giving new dimensions to the same to attract more visitors to the State.

Dr. Arun Sharma, Director of Tourism and Civil Aviation, detailed the activities to be undertaken by the Department to attract maximum number of tourists as also meet the long pending demand of high end tourists visiting the State.

Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Health Minister, Smt. Bimla Kashyap, Member of Parliament (RS), Shri Ganesh Datt, Vice Chairman, HIMUDA, Smt. Manisha Nanda, Principal Secretary, Tourism and other senior officers of the State Government were present on the occasion.
